Banchory Heritage Society

Banchory Heritage Society meets on the last Monday of the month through the Winter in the Banchory Ternan Episcopal Church

The Society begins its season on Monday, 31st October with a 'Welcome All' evening, where members and new friends can meet and catch up.

The Heritage Society committee welcomes you to the start of our 2011-2012 Season

We have a varied programme for you and hope that you will find something to interest you.

2011

31 Oct An evening with:- Banchory Morris Men – if you thought that Morris Dancing was just an English tradition, come along and find out a bit about Scotland’s dance history too.

28 Nov An Evening with:- Karl Revel – headmaster, ghillie and well known speaker on the Burns night circuit.

 

2012

30 Jan An ‘At Home’  with:- Dr Gordon Walkden: local historian and well-known expert on geology and minerals.

27 Feb An evening with:- Dr Joyce Walker, historian and author of a new book on a little known part of wartime in the North East of Scotland

26 Mar An evening with:-  Stewart Wilson – author of several books on local history and former Headmaster.

The Society Outing will be a ‘Mystery’ coach outing, which is being  arranged by Dr Walkden and will take place on Sunday 24th June 2012 (provisional date). More information will be provided when details have been finalised.

N.B.   As there is a music class running until 7.30pm this season, the doors will not be open to us until 7.30pm and so the meetings will now start at 7.45pm prompt, finishing time will be as usual.
