Vision:
“To create in Banchory Town Hall a highly visible High Street civic centre – a point of contact, information, communication and entertainment with state of the art facilities for all aspects of 21st century life.”
Is this achievable?
Following the public meeting held on 22 October 2007 to discuss the outcome of Banchory & District Initiative Limited’s (BDI) Town Hall Screening Study, a volunteer BDI Work Group has been established to examine the potential scope, economics and funding possibilities for the vision above and, additionally, how any work could be taken forward.
Dialogue is taking place with Aberdeenshire Council concerning community “ownership” of the Town Hall and the Council has been requested to give its approval in principle to community management of the hall. However a significant problem is the Council’s use of the rear offices and, until alternative staff accommodation can be found, this means that community management is not feasible because the the hall would not be a commercial proposition.
Any queries concerning the project should be addressed to Tony Brown (Tel: 01330 822 510, e-mail: tony.brown3@btinternet.com) or to one of those listed below. Should you wish to participate in helping achieve the vision please let Tony know.
Current members of the Work Group are:
Christina Brown, Tony Brown (Chair), Alexander Burnett, Alistair Cameron, Lisa Eunson, Mark Hope, Anne Lamb, Barbara Pinsent, Rob Sadler, Wendy Sadler, Linda Taberner, Jane Williamson, Mike Williamson.
