Banchory and District Initiative Limited

BDI’s Mission and Vision

An effective community organisation can change the lives of local people in many ways. It can act:

  • directly with people – providing and encouraging them to use services and training that will help build their skills and confidence
  • indirectly with people – working with other organisations to make sure services are improved and are available to local people
  • on the local economy – helping to create jobs and businesses that benefit the economy
  • on the local environment – tackling problems and engaging people in planning the improvements they would like
  • as an advocate – getting organised and campaigning to create a better community

BDI is a community company that was established to do all of the above and its role is to promote, lead and facilitate community development plans within an operations area centred on Banchory.

BDI’s vision is a more vibrant local economy, enhanced surroundings brought about by relevant and effective environmental and other initiatives, a stronger community spirit, increased public enablement and improved community care.

BDI's current Business Plan is driven by the Banchory Community Council (BCC) 2003-2008 Action Plan.  The Business Plan will be reviewed and updated following the 2008 Community Planning for Real Consultation being led by Banchory Community Council.
