Current Projects

Town Hall Renewal Project:

A study to examine the potential for further use and viability of community ownership has been completed and a public meeting was held on 22nd October 2007 to discuss the findings. More information here.

Swimming Pool: 

A Feasibility Study (funded by PGL) is underway in association with Bandswim to examine capital and operating costs, possibly in association with other sporting facilities. Project Status Report (September 2007).

Visit Banchory!:

A marketing initiative underway in association with Visit Scotland, Aberdeenshire Council, Leys Estate, Raemoir House Hotel, Milton of Crathes, Deeside Railway Preservation Society, Feughside Restaurant; Inchmarlo Golf Club, Banchory Golf Club, Deeside Activity Centre, Picture Nature and Banchory Community Council.

Banchory Calendar:

In association with the Banchory Business Association, profits are used to support civic enhancements such as the Christmas lights and the hanging baskets.  

Town Centre Hanging Baskets: 

In association with Banchory Business Association and Scolty Centre.

 Community Services:
  • Banchory Community Website www.banchory.org
  • Community Newsletter published 2 or 3 times each year
  • Tourism information point in Town Hall Foyer in winter months when TIC closed.
  • Office in Town Hall Reading Room

St Ternan’s Fair:

Initiated in 2002 as Banchory’s Golden Jubilee Celebrations the Fair replaced the annual Banchory Gala which had originally been Banchory Games held in honour of St Ternan each year. Since 2004 BDI has organised the event. Intended to be a celebration of life in Banchory the Fair offers a range of events for both locals and visitors. More information here.

Continental Market:

Held in October 2006 and May 2007.   Another one is planned for Sunday June 15th 2008 as part of Banchory's annual St Ternan's Fair.

 Community Planning
  • Making it Real/Banchory in the 21st Century Event (scheduled for March/April 2008). Organised in association with Banchory Community Council this event is for you to have your say on priorities for Banchory.
  • BDI is performing a study of community planning in Banchory and District with a view to seeking improvements in the process.

KGV Pavilion:

BDI is supporting KGV2000 in funding applications. Status Report (September 2007). KGV 2000 web page here.

Scolty Trails Enhancement:

BDI is assisting Banchory Paths Association in planning and executing the proposed improvement of the paths up Scolty Hill. More Information here.

Banchory Bags Campaign (BbC)

BDI is supporting this project in its aims to remove plastic bags from the local shopping scene as a step to helping our environment and reducing landfill. More information here.

Community Car Boot Sales:

All proceeds will help fund town improvements and local projects.

Friday Afternoon Concerts in the Town Hall:

A new programme of afternoon concerts in response to requests from residents of Banchory and the surrounding area who are unable to attend evening performances because of lack of transport or they dislike going out in the evenings.
