Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Deeside Supporter Group

The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is Scotland’s leading animal welfare organisation. Its aims are to prevent cruelty to animals and promote kindness and humanity in their treatment. As an animal welfare charity, it receives no government or lottery funding and relies on public donations to continue its work rescuing and rehoming Scotland’s abandoned, neglected and defenceless animals.

Scottish SPCA Inspectors save thousands of domestic, farm and wild animals from harm and danger every year, while staff and vets in the wildlife and animal rescue and rehoming centres look after, rehabilitate and rehome thousands more.

The Aberdeenshire Rescue and Rehoming Centre (ARRC) at Drumoak, opened in the spring. The need for a centre in the area had been identified for several years as animals from this area had to be transported to Centres in Inverness or Angus, or placed with local organisations. This caused additional stress for the animal, and increased costs for the Society. The ARRC cares for dogs, cats, birds, equines, reptiles and small animals, and has dedicated puppy and kitten facilities. Wild life casualties can be stabilised and transferred to the Society’s specialist Wildlife Centre. Do visit the ARRC to view the facilities and see how you can help with its work.

If you know of an animal in danger or distress, please contact the Scottish SPCA Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.

The Supporter Groups raise funds and promote awareness of the work of the Society. The events that we have planned for the next 12 months are listed below, and we will be delighted to see you at them.
