New Minister and Youth Workers for West Church

It’s been a year of change at Banchory Ternan West Parish Church. Following the vacancy left by Rev
Donald Walker when he answered a call to serve in Zimbabwe, Rev Tony Stephen was appointed
minister in March. Tony’s is a well-kent face in Banchory as he has developed the youth ministries
in both East and West parish churches for the last fifteen years. His preaching and teaching gifts are
challenging and encouraging people every week.

Of course, his appointment left a vacancy in the youth ministry, which has now been filled by Amy
Pierce. Having grown up in the Banchory churches, she has been completing her education in Durham and Edinburgh and brings fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the position.

Another new appointee for the two churches together is Caitlin Marno, who is the Children and
Families’ Outreach worker. Caitlin has been working in Canada for the past few years so returns to Banchory with new ideas and enthusiasm. Messy Church, which has been a vibrant way of ‘doing’ church as a family midweek, continues to flourish.

West Church buildings themselves are undergoing scrutiny as plans are afoot to develop them in a
sensitive way to better reflect the vision of the church for outreach, and create easier access both internally and externally. More badly-needed meeting rooms, and greater flexibility of the sanctuary are just two of the aims for the refurbishment, which has been made possible because of a generous legacy.
