Around fifty enthusiastic volunteers turned out for the third marathon Spring Bulb planting session in Banchory on Sunday ( 30 October ).
Many of the helpers were young scouts who made a huge contribution on the day with some back breaking work, digging and planting thousands of daffodil bulbs at the top of Raemoir Road and Hill of Banchory West.
The Bonnie Banchory team were delighted at the turn out. Local councillor Karen Clark, a member of the Bonnie Banchory committee said that they were grateful for the support of all the people who turned up and paid tribute to the scouts and their leaders who all contributed to a great sense of community spirit as the planting took place.
Cllr Clark added:" We were lucky with the weather. It was a mild, sunny day which made the work a lot easier. Once again Bonnie Banchory is thankful for the support of such fantastic volunteers who support our work and ensure that the town benefits from the lovely spectacle of the daffodils in full bloom in the Spring.
We are always looking for new volunteers to join our committee since our aim is to continue improving the Banchory environment in the future. Our thanks go to the Raemoir Garden Centre and Aberdeenshire Council for their generous donations of the bulbs'.
Bonnie Banchory is a Banchory & District Initiative project supported by Aberdeenshire Council and local businesses.
