Nikiya, a beautiful dancer, and warrior Solor meet in secret and swear eternal fidelity to each other. But the High Brahmin, who is also in love with Nikiya, overhears them and rushes to tell the Rajah, who wants Solor to marry his own daughter Gamzatti. La Bayadère (or Indian temple dancer) is a key classical work expertly brought to life by Bolshoi principals Svetlana Zakharova (Nikiya) and Maria Alexandrova (Gamzatti).
