The Oscar-winning film Amour, directed by Michael
Haneke, is arguably the director’s most moving.
We open with police breaking into an apartment and
discovering the body of Anne (Emmanuelle Riva). Her
husband Georges (Jean-Louis Trintignant) is nowhere to
be found. The film then travels back to what might be
the couple’s final outing together. Markedly less glacial
than his earlier work, Haneke’s camera takes us into
this couple’s life, detailing the sacrifices they have
made for each other and the unimpeachable bond
that exists between them.
