As part of the Bonnie Banchory project to brighten up the town centre several shop owners have purchased baskets, or ‘hayracks’ as they are correctly called, to fix to the walls of their premises. Each of the shop owners have agreed to plant and maintain the basket during the summer months.

Some 60 people attended a Banchory Town Forum meeting on 6 June to discuss the proposals for the size and location of Banchory and district's future population growth that have been made by Aberdeenshire Council planners for the period up to 2023.

Following their successful and very well received exercises in Aberdeen, Buckie and Edinburgh, the Robert Gordon University School of Architecture and Built Enviroment have accepted an invitation from Banchory and District Initiative (B.D.I.) and backed by the local Councillors to explore ideas relating to a “Masterplan” for the whole Banchory area of Royal Deeside.
